Uruma Takezawa
Born in 1977. Entered the Faculty of Law at Doshisha University. While a student, he visited the Okinawa islands—which have a unique culture different from the rest of Japan—and was impressed by the power of photography to document. He began learning photography by himself. After graduating from university, as the staff photographer for a publisher, he specialized in underwater photography, and starting in 2004, he became an independent photographer.
His works are seen in his publications including a photo book of his journey "Walkabout" and its travel story "Songlines", a photo album of Cuba "Buena Vista", travel story of Tibetan cultural zone "Kor La" etc.
In 2014, he was awarded Grand Prize in the Nikkei National Geographic Photo Prize.
